Cluj-Napoca Train Station
The city's primary train station is located in the heart of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. One of its selling points is that it is close to the city center. The station first opened on September 7, 1870, and two plaques hang in the structure today to celebrate the station's 100th and 125th anniversaries.
When Cluj-Napoca was part of the Kingdom of Hungary, Austro-Austro-Hungarian Hungary's Empire, the city's train station was designed and constructed by Hungarian architect Ferenc Pfaff.
It serves as a transfer point for passengers traveling between the Cluj-Napoca–Dej–Ilva Mică line and the Bucharest–Ploiești–Brașov–Teiuș–Cluj–Napoca–Oradea–Episcopia Bihor line 300 of Căile Ferate Române. About 100 passenger trains, including those operated within Romania by Căile Ferate Române, stop at the Cluj-Napoca train station annually.
